Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly influenced the behavior and character of young generations. On the one hand, technology facilitates access to information, online learning, and global communication. On the other hand, the lack of digital literacy and digital ethics among students can lead to serious issues, such as the spread of fake news, cyberbullying, hate speech, and a lack of responsibility in social media use. This Community Service Program (PKM) was conducted at SMA Negeri 01 Seberida involving 60 eleventh-grade students. The aim was to improve digital literacy, foster awareness of ethical social media practices, and encourage positive character building among young generations in the digital ecosystem. The method applied was Participatory Learning, which included socialization, interactive discussions, case simulations, and group reflections. The results showed a significant increase in students’ understanding of digital literacy. The average pre-test score of 62% increased to 84% in the post-test. Furthermore, 88% of participants reported better understanding of digital ethics, and 92% expressed satisfaction with the interactive training method. This program emphasizes the importance of participatory practice-based digital literacy as a strategy to develop the character and digital ethics of young generations.
